Meeting Individual Learning Needs

All children in schools should be treated as individuals and be taught and assessed in ways that allow them to make good educational progress.  They are also entitled to be able to integrate socially with their peers and feel part of the school community. However, as many parents know, if their child has individual learning needs, this is not always the case.

Frequently, it very much depends on where you live - which country and which part of the country - as to whether there is any provision in a mainstream school for children with particular learning needs, or whether there are any special schools

An Alternative to Mainstream Schooling

  • Latham Online can be the solution for families whose children are capable of following an examination course.
  • We know that children, such as those who have autism or dyslexia often find a mainstream school difficult to cope with and so they do not make the kind of progress that they could.
  • Children with learning disabilities where they  are unable to process information as quickly as others, take longer to develop new skills and understand complex information often become frustrated at trying to keep up with the rest of the class.
  • Self-paced, structured learning in a calm and safe home environment can often be transformational for young people who have struggled in mainstream schools. Technology can also be inherently enabling as a core part of their learning.

Physical Barriers

  • Many schools, in many countries present insuperable challenges for youngsters who have a physical impairment or disability.
  • Stairs limit wheelchair access.  Lots of hard surfaces in classrooms cause reverberation and echo which cause hearing impaired pupils major difficulties.  Poor lighting and lack of multi-sensory resources limit access to the curriculum for sight-impaired students.
  • Learning at home allows the environment to be properly adapted for your child.
  • Learning online allows your child to focus on their learning and achieving their full potential instead of the difficulties that impede learning.

Our Commitment to You

  • Our aim is to enable all our students to make progress and do the best they can.
  • We see the education we provide as a team effort between our tutors and the family to plan and monitor the educational progress of your child.
  • We are ready to support all our students, children and adults, to work through their courses at whatever pace they want to go.
  • Our tutors have the best interests of you, and your children as their focus and are on hand to give advice and guidance.
