Why home school?

Reasons for Homeschooling

Homeschooling isn't new, but it is growing in countries around the world.  Each family has its own reasons for educating their children at home.  When it comes to secondary age children, parents want to make sure that they have the same chances as everyone else.  This is where Latham Online is able to step in and support families.

Our structured online examination courses allow young people to study in the way that best suits their individual needs.  They can take exams earlier than their peers in schools, or take a few subjects at a time.  This is rarely possible in school.  They can also take advantage of our unique Blended Learning opportunities in the Sciences

We can advise and guide families, but it is ultimately your choice. You can take the decisions that are best for your child.

We look forward to welcoming you to Latham Online and to the educational success for your children.

The Positives of Homeschooling

  • Child-led learning allows for the individual needs and interests of your child to be met. They do not have to compete for attention in a busy, noisy classroom.
  • No school run means that if it is difficult to get your child to school, perhaps because you live in a location where schools are hard to reach, education does not have to suffer. Also, get-up times can be adjusted, quite crucially, to a more adolescent-friendly time for teenagers whose biological clocks shift at the start of puberty.
  • The flexibility of homeschooling supported by Latham Online is that parents are not tied to being at home all day with their adolescent youngsters.
  • The boost to children's confidence from being able to work at their own pace and in their own space is a huge benefit.
  • Young people who have been bullied or suffer from anxiety or social interaction difficulties are able to take more control over lives and their learning. They can go over material as many times as they want and get help from their subject tutors, when they feel the need to.
  • More time for young people to pursue their own passions and interests.
